Book Club: Eclectic

Where: Blue Ridge at Programming Room

Join us for fun and fellowship as we discuss plots, characters, and styles in various books. Each book club does a different book, and registration is usually required, so we suggest patrons call the individual branches to reserve their spot and check out the upcoming titles.

Storytime for Preschoolers

When: Thursday, May 23, 2013 - 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM
Where: Blue Ridge at Programming Room

Join staff as they present exciting and unique storytimes involving a variety of tried & true activities. Literacy-rich books and stories are shared to assist in developing pre-reading skills. Other enrichments may include music and movement, fingerplays, puppets and crafts. This is an all-around fun program for preschoolers, ages 3-5 years.

Dig In! Summer Reading Kick Off

When: Saturday, May 25, 2013 - 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM
Where: Blue Ridge at Programming Room

Uncover some great reads at the Library. We'll offer open ended crafts, round-robin speed reading, prize giveaways, and snacks. Bring in your electronic devices and we'll show you how our MCPL app works and how to enjoy great eBooks using Overdrive. We'll also show you how to register and participate in our Summer Reading Program so you can continue your reading adventure throughout the summer and keep earning great prizes! This is a drop-in program. Come any time between 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m., and stay as long as you want until we close.

Book Club: Tweens and Teens

Book discussions are a great way to meet other kids just like you! We’ll chat about great books and share ideas for other great reads with each another. There will always be fun activities and maybe even treats! Each discussion will be different, but you’re sure to meet some new friends.

Cousin Eddie, the Hillbilly

Where: Blue Ridge at Programming Room

Sing along with Cousin Eddie and his stump fiddle. You will take part making music with the percussion instruments he furnishes, and even do a couple of dances. Everyone will have fun!

Children's Game Night

Dig into Nature with WildHeart

Discover how you can unplug from electronics and connect to wild things right in your own backyard. Learn how to call in a barred owl or sniff out a spider. WildHeart is the Parent’s Choice® and Emmy Award® winning family group, conservation educators, and entertainers. Kids and families will "dig" their original music and groovy actions. Also, take a peek at their portable, mini-backyard zoo! It’s WildHeart bringing the heart of the wild, to the heart of the child.

African Safari
