Storytime for Toddlers

When: Tuesday, May 28, 2013 - 10:30 AM - 11:30 AM
Where: Excelsior Springs at Programming Room

Stories, music and movement are all part of Toddler storytimes. This storytime acquaints toddlers with the library and fosters early reading skills. In addition, Toddler storytime offers group interaction and participation. Come join in the fun. For ages 18-36 months. Program may require parental participation and registration.

Storytime for Preschoolers

Where: Excelsior Springs at Programming Room

Join staff as they present exciting and unique storytimes involving a variety of tried & true activities. Literacy-rich books and stories are shared to assist in developing pre-reading skills. Other enrichments may include music and movement, fingerplays, puppets and crafts. This is an all-around fun program for preschoolers, ages 3-5 years.

Summer Reading Kick-off Party

When: Saturday, June 01, 2013 - 2:30 PM - 3:30 PM
Where: Excelsior Springs at Programming Room

The Summer Reading Program is back! What better way to get into the spirit than with a party? We will be holding a special Summer Reading Kick-off Party at the branch for you and your friends. Come prepared to have fun!

Chess Time

When: Monday, June 03, 2013 - 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM
Where: Excelsior Springs at Programming Room

Join us at the Library for a chance to play this centuries-old board game of strategy. On the first Monday of every month, you and your friends will have a chance to play chess, learn more about the game, and have fun. Players of all levels are welcome. Feel free to bring your own chess set, if you have one.

Computers: The Basics

Need to learn how to turn a computer on? A Library staff member will sit down with you for a simple, one-on-one session about using a computer. No experience is required. Note: This class is limited to one student for each session.

Riding Horses for Therapy

Horses are special animals, but did you know that they can help people with special needs? Riding a horse can provide a lot of therapeutic value for people. You will have a chance to meet some special horses from the Northland Therapeutic Riding Center. Join us and learn more about how horses improve the lives of people.

Dig into Nature with WildHeart

Discover how you can unplug from electronics and connect to wild things right in your own backyard. Learn how to call in a barred owl or sniff out a spider. WildHeart is the Parent’s Choice® and Emmy Award® winning family group, conservation educators, and entertainers. Kids and families will "dig" their original music and groovy actions. Also, take a peek at their portable, mini-backyard zoo! It’s WildHeart bringing the heart of the wild, to the heart of the child.

Search and Rescue Dogs at the Park

Search and rescue dogs look for people who have gone missing in the wilderness or in rivers. They also help rescue workers find people buried under rubble left by natural disasters. The Missouri Search and Rescue K-9 Unit is working with the Excelsior Springs Branch and the Parks and Recreation Department to bring you a special program all about search and rescue dogs. This program will take place at Siloam Park in Excelsior Springs at the intersection of Garland and Ellsworth.

Deluxe Raptor Program
