Join staff as they present exciting and unique storytimes involving a variety of tried & true activities. Literacy-rich books and stories are shared to assist in developing pre-reading skills. Other enrichments may include music and movement, fingerplays, puppets and crafts. This is an all-around fun program for preschoolers, ages 3-5 years.

Storytime for Toddlers

Where: Blue Springs South at Programming Room

Stories, music and movement are all part of Toddler storytimes. This storytime acquaints toddlers with the library and fosters early reading skills. In addition, Toddler storytime offers group interaction and participation. Come join in the fun. For ages 18-36 months. Program may require parental participation and registration.

Egyptian Dig!

When: Thursday, May 23, 2013 - 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM
Where: Blue Springs South at Programming Room

Transport back in time to ancient Egypt with storyteller Jo Ho. She’ll be digging up tales of kings and queens and crocodiles too. Help dust off a unique picture book of hieroglyphs and also meet a very clever camel and a master baker. How much wrapping does it take to make a mummy? Come and find out in this fast-paced Egyptian dig!

Join us for fun and fellowship as we discuss plots, characters, and styles in various books. Each book club does a different book, and registration is usually required, so we suggest patrons call the individual branches to reserve their spot and check out the upcoming titles.

Deluxe Raptor Program

Ever seen an owl up close? What about a hawk or falcon? Come learn and see these beautiful birds, and gain insight into their habits. Operation Wildlife has combined its ever popular "Dayshift" and "Nightshift" programs to bring a variety of raptors.

Join Dr. Ron Miriani as he discusses the rich history and culture of the West Side. We'll meet at the Bluebird Café, 17th and Summit for a short discussion followed by a walk. After strolling this area for more than an hour you may develop a love of bright colors.This walk has a lot of hills.
